Rhee Family's Story

Our family immigrated to the United States from Seoul, South Korea, in 1988 with my parents, through a family petition sponsored by my uncle, the artist Elder Kwang Hyuk Rhee.

I married my beautiful wife Mary, and we have two children, Christopher and Gloria, who have grown up wonderfully. My parents are still living, and we currently live near them in Atlanta, Georgia.

​

My uncle, the artist Elder Kwang Hyuk Rhee, passed away in 1998 at the age of 89 in Los Angeles, California. During my childhood, I lived in his apartment and in the very room where he created these Word Pictures, surrounded by his tools and desk. He later moved to Los Angeles to support children’s ministry through fundraising.

Before he passed away, he entrusted me with the remaining copies of his Word Pictures. However, I did not have the opportunity to share these artworks until now.

​

After meeting the Hmong Christian community, the Holy Spirit inspired me to use these artworks to support Hmong missions and children’s ministry. I shared this vision with Victory Hmong Alliance Church in Winder, Georgia, where I currently attend and serve, and the church board approved this work for fundraising to support Hmong missions and children’s ministry.

I pray that these artworks may be like the five loaves and two fish in the hands of Jesus Christ—used to raise up many Hmong disciples for the nations of the world.
